Best Yoga pose in preparation for birth

The Hindi squat is now one of my favourite yoga positions during my third trimester. I have been adding this a lot to my yoga practice and while relaxing in my birthing pool, that is now set up in my living room ready for our homebirth. I think its a position I will use alot during the birth of my baby boy – and here are the reasons why!

In my fabulous Hypnobirthing book by Marie Mongan she says:

It widens the pelvic opening
It relaxes and opens the perineal tissues
It helps to avoid tearing and lessens the need for an episiotomy
It relieve strain in the lower back
It increases the supply of oxygen to your baby
It shortens the birth path
It allows you a clear view of your baby’s birth
It makes a good use of the effect of gravity

Sounds pretty good to me 🙂 x
